Our Current Undertakings
Our primary goal is to develop a comprehensive ecosystem in which children from various grades and mixed backdrop can learn, think critically and creatively, extend their view beyond accepted norms and grow unhindered.
Current educational undertakings aim at providing each child, regardless of socio-economic heritage, a uniform scope, alternative learning and skill development alongside centralized curricula.
Education sits in the backdrop of a loving society and a healthy environment. Our community service builds access to health and raises environmental awareness.
Education
Started in 2024, Shiksha Sanjeevanee (Beng. Educational rejuvenation) is an extended version of NMF's trademark book distribution program. Our team conducts sessions on curricular or extra-curricular topics throughout the year for grade 6 to 10. Parallel to self-paced learning & practice of the mainstream curricula, our vision is to stress on imparting foundational reading & writing, reasoning skills, awareness and values.
Started in 2024, the Career camp project is an attempt to develop career-related awareness in students studying in grade 7, 8 and 9. The focus lies on introducing the widely-used RIASEC system as a tool of introspection and broadening the vision regarding the multiple paths available - all through hands-on, playful activities.
Our team pays occasional visits to mainstream or alternative schooling systems, with educational toys, fun lessons and an intention to deeply comprehend the latent reasons that still hinder education to be universally accessible, in terms of quality as well as scale.
Academics-related expenses of some of our meritorious but underprivileged students are endorsed by a few of our kind donors.
Humanitarian
The neighbourhood, that NMF is based on, is a frequent destination of cyclones, including Yaas (2021), Amphan (2020). To counter the resulting plight of the local communities, our team provides with medicines, sanitary napkins, rations, etcetera.
From 2016, NMF has consistently arranged free-of-cost health clinics, sometimes as a part of the relief campaign, sometimes as a part of school outreaches, etcetera.
Environmental
Distributing saplings and tree plantation drives constitute the direct actions undertaken by team NMF. These events are oftentimes paired with other trademark events (e.g., the book distribution) or carried out in collaboration.
Parallel to direct interventions, NMF has consistently been conducting awareness drives, e.g., celebrating World Environment Day, awareness program on water conservation, etc.
